FAQs
1. What is a recreation site?
Formerly known as forest recreation sites, recreation sites are areas of Crown land outside of parks that have been made available for recreational use. Often these are campgrounds, trails or day use areas. Recreation sites are the responsibility of the Recreation Sites and Trails Branch and many of them are managed and maintained by partners such as recreation clubs, forest companies, First Nations, local governments, contractors and other groups.
Recreation sites are located on Crown land outside of parks and are not covered by rules and regulations relating to parks.
2. How can I report unauthorized use on Crown land?
A form is available to report someone who is using Crown land without authorization, or is misusing Crown land, causing damage, or contravening their permit, licence or lease relating to Crown land.
By reporting unauthorized use, you are helping protect British Columbia’s natural environment and ensuring that tourism operators are acting responsibly, for the benefit of their customers, British Columbia’s economy and their own businesses. The information you provide using this complaint form (pdf, 25KB) is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. It will be kept confidential to the maximum extent possible.
It should be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, which will review the complaint.
