Labour Day Lake (Port Alberni)


Site Closed.
Access to Labour Day Lake Recreation Site is via privately managed roads. As of July 14th, Cameron Main will be will be closed to public access until further notice. This is a precaution recognizing the elevated wildfire hazard and in response to the reallocation of fire fighting resources to wildfires across the province. While the site remains open there will be no access via Cameron Main.

  • Site Description:A lovely sub-alpine lake with good fishing (Rainbow Trout) in a Cedar Hemlock forest. This site has a few walk-in campsites located along the trail. A nice hiking trail circles the lake (~6km).

  • Driving Directions: From Port Alberni, take Highway 4 east toward Parksville. Just before the Alberni Summit brake check turn right onto the Cameron Connector. Reset your odometer. At 2.4kms turn left at the Cameron River Main. At 10.3 km take the right fork (their is a small red sign for Labour Day Lake). Stay on the Cameron Mainline until the final km marker 24. Continue another 5km until you reach a fork. Take the left fork (through the red gate) and continue another 2.2km. Park in a large pullout on the right. The trail begins about 50m up the road on the right hand side. Access to Labour Day Lake Recreation Site is via privately managed roads.
