  • Site Description:Site Update: Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) staff recently met with three Wet?suwet?en Hereditary Chiefs of the Likhts?amisyu Clan at the Parrot Lake Recreation Site south of Houston. This meeting resulted in an agreement to work towards a partnership that enables continued public recreation and a cultural presence to take place. The history of use by Wet?suwet?en people is recorded by both the oral history and provincial records for the area. Currently Parrot Lake Recreation Site is managed by RSTBC to a rustic standard. This partnership will provide an opportunity for enhanced amenities and infrastructure including history of the area. Site Description: This is a 7 unit open camping area near the south end of the first Parrott Lake. There are 4 interconnecting lakes in the Parrott Lake chain. It offers a small beach with a boat launch. Fishing for rainbow can be good, while paddlers often string the lakes together for a nice weekend canoe trip. Rustic campsites can be found throughout the chain.
