Site Description:
This 1.4km hiking trail provides a short uphill hike leading to a summit with four viewpoints providing 360 degree views of the surrounding lakes, rivers, forests and wetlands. This short hike is deceiving because the trail has a steep grade route and hikers should be in good physical condition. The hike is suitable for families but time and care need to be taken. The route explores the exposed mountainous column of basalt from the bottom to the top of Teapot Mountain. On the trail the basalt rocks are visible everywhere.
Driving Directions:
*Please note that the main access to Teapot Mt is currently closed due to a major washout. The area is still accessible by a long detour via the 200 Road at Bear Lake and connecting to the Caine Creek FSR. This detour would require travelling approximately 50km on forest roads. The use of a two-way radio is highly recommended. There is currently no estimated date of repair* Travel 50 Km north of Prince George on Hwy 97 past Summit Lake. From Highway 97 turn left on to Talus Road. Continue driving and then take a right on to the Caine Creek Forest Road. Follow the road to the parking lot.
