  • Site Description: This 6 km long trail passes through mature Hemlock forest to start and then sub-alpine and avalanche paths, with views of a deep blue below, ending at mountainous basin with a second small lake. The trail gains approx. 400 m in elevation to the second lake. Expect muddy sections of trail higher up and slippery creek crossing. Rugged hiking boots and poles are recommended.

  • Driving Directions: From Smithers, follow highway 16 east, passing the Suskwa FSR on your right. The turnoff is 2.5 km past the Suskwa turnoff. Stay left at the gravel pit and brown RSTBC sign. A small parking lot is approximately 2 km from the highway. Experienced drivers with high clearance, 4WD can proceed a further 2 km to the upper parking. This section of the road is narrow, rough and requires skills due to sizeable water bars and steep grades. There is nowhere to turn around past the first parking lot. If stuck, you will have to back down or continue trying to make it to the second parking lot. To decrease hiking distance by 2 kms, 4WD with high clearance and experienced drivers can proceed to an upper parking spot.
