  • Site Description: The Porcupine Creek / Lime Ridge trails are scenic hiking and horseback riding trails that lead to Lime Ridge and Porcupine Ridge in the limestone mountains of the Marble Range. There are two trail options. One trail begins near a set of horse corrals, while another trail begins a little further up the access road. The first trail is locally known as the "Hole in the Wall" trail and follows Porcupine Creek upstream from the trailhead near the horse corrals. This trail provides access to other trails inside Marble Range Provincial Park, including Mount Soues and Sam's Cabin. The second trail is known as the Lime Ridge trail, and it follows a valley up a smaller tributary of Porcupine Creek for about 3.5 km until it reaches the alpine. Once you reach the top, visitors can make their own route through the open alpine to explore Lime Ridge to the north, and Porcupine Ridge to the south. The mountains of the Marble Range are well-known for their distinct and prominent limestone features. Because limestone is quite susceptible to erosion from water, this unique landscape displays many interesting features which can also be hazards to visitors, including crenellated ridges, caves, sinkholes, chasms, and natural arches. The Marble Range mountains also provide important habitat for bighorn sheep. The Hole in the Wall trail leads to Marble Range Provincial Park, so users should familiarize themselves with the rules or conditions for travelling or considering backcountry camping inside the Park. • Driving Directions: From Clinton, head southwest on Kelly Lake Road towards Kelly Lake. Travel approximately 16 km and turn right/north onto the Jesmond Road. Travel 5.3 km and turn right onto the access road. From here, the road is narrow and four wheel drive is recommended, although not often necessary. Continue approximately 5 km to the first trailhead, where there is an outhouse and a set of horse corrals. The second trailhead for the Lime Ridge trail is about 700 meters further up the road from the horse corrals.
