• Site Description: Cross River Canyon Recreation Site offers year-round views of mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and canyons, three warming huts and over 100km of trail network all of which is maintained in partnership with Nipika Mountain Resort. During the summer, over 100km of hiking, running, mountain biking, and horseback riding, non-motorized multi-use trails are available. In the winter 30km of fat biking, snowshoeing, and 50km of groomed Nordic ski trails exists. Nordic trail fees apply between November 1st and April 30th. There are two public parking lots which provide access to Cross River Canyon Recreation Site. These parking lots connect to the trails and are located at Palliser Forest Service Road marker 14.9km and Cross River Forest Service Road marker 16.3km. As this is an active Forest Service Road that is used by industrial vehicles, please drive cautiously and it is recommended that you use a 2-way radio. • Driving Directions: From the town of Radium Hot Springs, follow Hwy 93 going north into Kootenay National Park. Turn right onto Settler's road, start calling in your kilometre marks on the radio if you have one. Turn left onto Palliser Forest Service Road at the 12km mark. At the 14km mark, either turn right to continue onto Pallier Forest Service Road to the South parking lot at the 14.9km mark, or keep straight onto Cross River Forest Service Road to the North parking lot at 16.3km mark. Driving directions There is also access to Nipika Mountain Resort day parking to the left at the 14km mark. The road access is shared by industrial traffic. USE CAUTION.
